Final Voting for the Body Armor Innovation Award 2024 is Now Open!

After an exciting and highly competitive first round, the final voting for the Body Armor Innovation Award 2024 has officially begun! Four finalists have emerged from two heats, each representing the very best in cutting-edge technology and innovation in the body armor industry. Now, it’s time for the public to decide which company will take home this prestigious award.

The Finalists:

The four finalists were selected from a pool of innovative companies that showcased groundbreaking advancements in body armor technology. Here’s a closer look at the finalists competing for the Body Armor Innovation Award 2024:

  1. DuPont Life Protection
    Innovation: Kevlar® EXO™
DuPont’s Kevlar® EXO™ sets a new standard in personal protection by offering up to a 30% weight reduction compared to traditional Kevlar®. This breakthrough innovation provides a lighter, more flexible solution for high-performance body armor, making it more comfortable for wearers without sacrificing protection.
  2. Teijin Aramid
    Innovation: Circular Twaron® Initiative
Teijin Aramid’s Circular Twaron® Initiative focuses on sustainability without compromising performance. This eco-friendly innovation creates high-performance fibers using recycled materials, marking a significant leap forward in responsible manufacturing for the body armor industry.
  3. MKU Limited
    Innovation: KAVRO DOMA 360 Helmet
MKU’s KAVRO DOMA 360 Helmet redefines ballistic helmet technology. Designed to protect against high-caliber rounds, such as those from an AK-47, this helmet offers enhanced protection with a low Back Face Signature (BFS) of less than 20mm, all while maintaining a high level of comfort for the user.
  4. Avient Corporation
    Innovation: Dyneema® SB301
Avient’s Dyneema® SB301 is a third-generation ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber. Not only does it offer superior ballistic protection, but it is also 10-20% lighter than previous iterations. As the first bio-based UHMWPE fiber, it delivers a significant reduction in carbon footprint, aligning with sustainability goals in defense manufacturing.
