Made possible by Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology material for ballistic protection, at ExpoSeguridad April 24-26, 2018 at Centro Citibanamex, in Mexico City.
“We are proud to support our customers as they demonstrate Next Generation Armor Technology based on Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology material, giving customers in Mexico and throughout Latin America opportunities to see what is possible in terms of lightweight, high performance armor for personal and vehicle protection,” says Marcio Manique, global business director, life protection, DSM Dyneema. “Armor made with this material is crucial, lifesaving equipment, enabling law enforcement and other first responder personnel to serve their duties with confidence and return home safely to their families.”
Dyneema® and Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology materials are used in both hard armor (inserts for personal protection and plates for vehicle, aircraft and boat armoring) and soft armor (vests) designs. In hard armor, Dyneema® HB material can be used in a monolithic construction to provide up to NIJ Level III protection – capable of stopping many common rifle ammunition rounds, such as 7.62x51mm ball (non-armor piercing/AP), 5.56x45mm ball (SS92), and 7.62x39mm (PS Ball). Inserts made by combining Dyneema® material with ceramic plates fronting can stop many armor piercing bullets (representative round: 30 caliber armor piercing). In soft armor designs, Dyneema® SB material is used to develop the lightest, highly flexible designs achieving up to NIJ Level IIIA protection levels, capable of stopping many handgun rounds, including .357 SIG and .44 magnum.
Leading armor manufacturers will demonstrate their lightest weight armor designs
Customers PMT (booth 3711) and Power Hit (booth 4131) will display armor made with Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology during the exhibition.
Protective vests and inserts made with Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology are used by such globally-recognized law enforcement and armed services organizations as: the New York Police Department (NYPD), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Los Angeles Police Department, and many others.
“Threats are very real for law enforcement and defense personnel in this region. By providing information about new armor designs that capitalize on the extreme light weight and high strength of Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology, armor manufacturers are making it possible for police and soldiers here to have the opportunity to be protected by vests and inserts made with the same material as those used by many of the leading law enforcement and armed services personnel around the world,” says Manique.
