On two separate occasions, BodyArmorNews.com interviewed Ultimat Ballistic Solutions’ CEO, Mr. Per Sabbasen, and Anorak Hellas’ CEO, Mr. Koskovos Dimitris, and discussed their companies’ products and practices.
Ultimat Ballistic Solutions is based in Malaysia and was established in June 2022. The company specializes in the design and production of ballistic equipment such as shields, helmets, and ballistic vests.
Anorak Hellas, a pioneer in protective clothing, has developed into a manufacturer of body armor since the company started in 1975. Initially focusing on weather-resistant garments, the company gradually transitioned into ballistic protection products. The company’s journey into the ballistic protection industry began with manufacturing for third-party companies, allowing it to gather experience. In 2016, leveraging expertise and confidence, the company started branding its own body armor.
Product Diversity and Manufacturing Processes
Ultimat Ballistic Solutions’ product range includes a variety of ballistic gear, including ballistic vests and plates, plate carriers, ballistic and riot helmets, visors and shields. Collaborating with suppliers for high-quality materials, the company ensures the durability and effectiveness of its products, with in-house testing guaranteeing reliability. The company adheres strictly to NIJ standards, ensuring that all products meet necessary certifications.
Beyond ballistic protection, Anorak Hellas offers an array of garments tailored for various weather conditions and activities, including motorcycling, hunting, and workwear. Notably, the company’s weather-resistant gear for motorcyclists is the most popular among their offerings, due to its durability.
Regarding their ballistic armor, Anorak Hellas’ tactical vests, which come in large sizes weighing between 2.6 and 2.7 kg, demonstrate the brand’s dedication to providing lightweight, efficient protection. The company makes their soft armor panels using a polyethylene and aramid blend. This provides flexibility and strength, making them comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The Roadium panel, their latest product, follows NIJ level IIIA and incorporates additional materials for blade protection.
Women’s Safety and Sustainability
Although Ultimat Ballistic Solutions sells vests for women in a range of cup sizes, the firm does not carry hard ballistic plates that are tailor-made for women.
Identifying an area of improvement, Anorak Hellas does not offer any specialized female body armor at the moment. Although, the company remains committed to environmental sustainability, by incorporating recycled materials into their garments.
Clientele and Expansion Goals
Serving a wide range of customers, Ultimat Ballistic Solutions has important contracts with law enforcement organizations. With growing interest from Europe, the company aims to expand its presence by establishing a factory in Europe by 2025.
Anorak Hellas is well-positioned for future growth. With a strong presence in Greece, Belgium, Spain, Romania, France, and growing interest from Germany. Although police departments and private security firms represent most of its clientele, the company intends to widen this spectrum.
